The building built in the late 1978 for port commerce purposes by Mr Saw Chong Thuah, after whom it was named. With stunning views of the Penang Strait, the hills and the UNESCO-inscribed heritage zone of George Town, the current owners thought that adaptive reuse to a hotel would breathe new life into the building. After much planning and obtaining building permission, it was sensitively renovated in 2018 to offer a total of 46 contemporary style rooms that we see today.
